Abandoned "John's Modern Cabins"; 2001 "John's Modern Cabins", built in 1951, had to close after the interstate bypassed Route 66. I am standing on former Route 66, and the exressway is only forty yards behind me - but it might as well be forty miles away when one's business entrance is bypassed. In 2001 a group is working to salvage the icon.
