World War II furlough

World War II furlough

During World War II I worked on my uncle's farm in central Wisconsin. That winter another uncle returned to the farm while on furlough from the war in the South Pacific. I was 15 years old at the time and made this shot with a Kodak Box Brownie camera. As I look at it now, it seems representative of the second world war...a dark, cold, uninviting atmosphere, an auto in an unstable position and a German shepherd dog charging at the American soldier.
